General Thoughts

I started this site because there were always people on the forums I frequent who were looking for free or very inexpensive image hosting solutions. I started it as a free service and have recently added pay services to keep it going.

I have added some advertising links to the interface of the site, hoping that perhaps they will generate some small amount of revenue to offset my hosting costs. If you shop at any of the sites linked there anyway, just click through and help this site out. I get a little money if you buy anything, as these are commission based links.

There's also a "Links" page where I have some products and sites listed. With Adorama Camera I get a commission from anything you purchase there, if you click through from my site. It costs you nothing extra, and it helps out the site. Plus, their prices are very reasonable, and their service is good. They have yet to let me down.

Premium Image Hosting Services

I am now offering a premium service for a small monthly fee. The premium service enables remote linking to any site you want, no additional compression on the images, and more storage space. Anyone who has suggestions for improvements to the service feel free to send me an email and I will put them into consideration. If you are interested in my current plan for subscription service, you can view it here.

BBCode

What is BBCode? BBCode is a special kind of text that is used on many popular internet forum sites, especially ZeroForum, PHPbb, vBulletin and InvisionBoard. By clicking on the BBCode link on your file list, you get a shortcut to posting your images online on your favorite forum. Just click the BBCode link, copy the small segment of text it brings up, and paste it into the forum site where you would like it posted. Sometimes different forums work slightly different ways, so you may have to edit the BBCode to work for different ones. Consult the help for the individual forum sites you use to find out what works and what doesn't.

eBay Auction Helper

If you use eBay and are a Premium member of EasyImageHost.net, you can get a quick start posting your images to the popular internet auction site. Simply create a gallery for your auction and edit the gallery to add the images you want to include. Once this is done, there will be a box labeled "Simple eBay Template" with a block of HTML code in it. You can paste this HTML directly into your eBay auction description to quickly and easily embed the images you have selected. You can also paste them into your favorite HTML editor and work with the HTML there.

Try to delete images you are not really linking to anymore, or ones that are stale links. By this I mean if you have a forsale item linked here, delete the images after you've sold it. Just use common sense and the service will be better for everyone. Again, this is a shared, free resource and the kinder you are to the resource, the longer it will last.

Image Quality / Bandwidth Issues

All JPEG images are compressed to a default of 60% quality for free users, so if you feel that your image quality is suffering, make sure you upload uncompressed JPG images. I compress the images to save bandwidth.

I would suggest limiting the size of images to no more than 640x480, as a general rule. I am in no way demanding that images are this size, but it's a guideline that will improve the experience of most people with whom you share your images.

The system has a built-in resize capability. To resize an image on-the-fly, just use the "edit" feature and set what size you want the image to be displayed. Note that this does reduce the quality of the image as displayed in people's browsers. However, it does not affect your original file in any way.

Additionally, there is also the ability to rotate and compress images after uploading. These features are accessed the same way, by clicking "edit" when you are on your file list.

Also realize that this will conserve your bandwidth limits. If you use it up, you will have to wait until next month. I reset the counts on the first of the month. Note that this is more generous than my hosting provider is. They keep a rolling 30-day window of bandwidth usage, and my limit is always for the "current 30-day period."

This connection is very fast. Just because it is fast, does not mean you should abuse it. Once again, I urge you to use common sense. You would be surprised how quickly you can use up your bandwidth allocation on this connection.
